Atlantica Group supports numerous causes of vital importance and organizations performing essential services on a global basis. While we can and do offer financial, human and other resources, perhaps the most important way in which we can help involves bringing to the attention of others the essential work being done to address human needs at the most basic level.
Those of us fortunate enough simply to live in a peaceful environment, with enough to eat, are more fortunate than many hundreds of millions of people around the world. These most basic of conditions we tend to take for granted, yet so much can so easily be done to improve the conditions for so many.
Please take the time to visit these pages regularly and to visit the websites of organizations doing so much to improve living conditions and future prospects for so many. We have featured sites and organizations of particular interest to us, and will be adding others from time to time.
We thank you for your consideration.
World Food Programme -- The official site of this United Nations program that receives no direct allocation of UN dues or government funds. Dependent on contributions, it seeks to achieve the Millenium Goal of halving hunger in the world within a decade. Did you know that for the price of a fine dessert at your favorite restaurant you can feed a hungry child for a month? Click here to contribute.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières -- Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. Strictly apolitical, this organization relies on the general public for nearly 80 percent of its operating funds. The remaining 20 percent of funds come from international agencies and governments. Click here for more information.
Seeds of Peace -- Most stories discussing the security situation in the Middle East, and in particular the ongoing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians dwell upon continuing conflict, attacks upon civilians and what governments are (and are not) doing to facilitate a resolution. But Seeds of Peace has, since 1993, brought children and teens from areas of conflict to the woods of Maine to teach them about conflict resolution, leadership through dialogue, communication and negotiation. Now working with youth from the Balkans, Cyprus and South Asia, in addition to the Middle East, this exceptional organization deserves your support.
