Former Fairchild Semiconductor International CTO Laurenz Schmidt, Atlantica Group LLC to Pursue Global Technology Opportunities -- Atlantica Group LLC, a Portland, Maine-based international business development firm, is pleased to announce that Laurenz Schmidt, formerly Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc. will work with Atlantica Group LLC as a Global Technology Consultant to pursue and support technology development opportunities.

With more than 25 years of experience in all phases of semiconductor manufacturing, as well as a degree in Chemical Engineering and a MBA in Technology Management, Mr. Schmidt will assist entrepreneurs and early-stage companies seeking to develop and commercialize cutting-edge technologies. He will also consult with companies seeking to establish complex international operations across a spectrum of technology-driven industries.

“Laurenz’ exceptional background in technology development and management, his experience in larger corporations and his entrepreneurial bent will add tremendous value to our efforts to serve clients in key technology sectors,” said Perry B. In addition to his extensive background in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Schmidt has a longstanding interest in renewable energy technologies for commercial and residential applications and will bolster Atlantica Group’s efforts to work with developers of solutions for the conversion, transmission and storage of electrical energy from wind farms, solar and tidal installations. Mr. Schmidt will assess the viability of new technologies, and will assist developers in positioning their technologies for investment and investors in their efforts to evaluate the soundness of new technology opportunities.
